The Society of Social Psychiatry P. Sakellaropoulos (SSP P. Sakellaropoulos) is a non profit organisation founded in 1986, with the aim of providing\u00a0high quality mental health services.\u00a0The Society works for the population’s sensitization regarding mental health issues and promotes the prevention, the timely intervention, the social inclusion and employment of people with psychosocial problems and the support of their rights. The aim is to ensure respect and equal rights as citizens for people with mental health problems.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0SSP P. Sakellaropoulos, has made a significant contribution to Greece’s Psychiatric Reform, and its operation is based on the principles of Social Psychiatry, whose aim is to offer community care\u00a0mental health services to patients and their families which promote social inclusion, as an alternative to institutionalized hospital treatment.<\/p>\n

The aim is to cover effectively the mental health services needs of the population. Each year, mental health services are offered to approximately 3,500 patients and the total number of staff is 220 people.<\/p>\n

More specifically, the aims of the SSP P. Sakellaropoulos are:<\/p>\n

  1. The provision of mental health services;<\/li>\n
  2. The promotion and establishment of Social Psychiatry;<\/li>\n
  3. The sensitization of the society regarding mental health issues;<\/li>\n
  4. The provision of vocational education and training for people with mental health problems;<\/li>\n
  5. \u03a4he provision of education and training for mental health professionals;<\/li>\n
