Centre for Intercultural Education of Faculty of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology of University of Athens was founded in 1996 and has developed into an university Center for the study of intercultural education issues nationally and internationally. Its purpose is to address social inequalities that lead groups of people to isolation and marginalization. It focuses on the education of children from these groups and as strategies uses the promotion of intercultural education, understanding and cooperation in the educational community and the wider environment that shapes it. Its goals are:

• The promotion of intercultural teaching and research
• The development and implementation of intercultural research programs
• The cooperation with respective university and research Centers
• The exchange of experiences between members of the Greek and international scientific community through the organization and conduct of seminars, symposia and conferences.

The actions of Centre for Intercultural Education are developed in camps or settlements of N. Attica, Central Greece, Crete (Chania, Heraklion), Peloponnese. It also collaborates with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of Volos, Aegean University and Epirus University with the same purpose and the same goals.
