The project addresses the need for equal inclusion of people 65+ in the digital world. Digital illiteracy, non friendly platforms and stereotypes about aging and the elderly, prevent people 65+ from using digital tools that would make everyday life easier and improve their quality of life. At a time when the services of the state, banks, markets, and even medical services are being digitized, the right to equal inclusion in the digital world applies to everyone regardless of age.

The goal of the project “A hug for the e-lderly” is to defend the right of equal access and participation of people 65+ in the digital world. It is implemented in 5 cities in Greece (Patras, Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Chania, Athens), for a duration of 22 months.

The mobile application “Hug65+” will be developed by InterMediaKT together with 20 people 65+ creating a digital educational tool for the rights of the elderly, made by them for them. Through the application (and other means), 400 beneficiaries will be trained on their rights and the ways they can take advantage of the app to share their digital needs. The trainings will be a result of the cooperation of the two partners of the project.

People Behind will coordinate the creation of a documentary which will highlight the difficulties of 10 people 65+ in the digital environment. It will be the main tool to facilitate open discussions with the public (240 people) in 5 cities in Greece, in collaboration with local partners. The screenings of the documentary aim to raise awareness, a better understanding of the needs and to fight the stereotypes for the elderly. Finally, 12 workshops will be organized for the employees of 12 technology and communication companies in Greece, with the aim of training them on the needs of the elderly and raising awareness about their right to be included in the digital world, so that the platforms and websites they create can be more friendly for the people 65+.
